DREMC mourns the loss of board director Mike England

The Duck River Electric Membership Corporation family is mourning the loss of longtime board director, Michael England, who passed away on Nov. 18.

Mr. England honorably served as a DREMC director, representing members in Coffee and Warren counties from April 2004 until his final days.  He was a strong supporter of the electric cooperative industry and the communities that DREMC serves.

In the 20 years he served as a director, Mr. England helped lead the cooperative through uncertain times, such as the pandemic, which resulted in supply and demand challenges and unprecedented inflation costs for materials. He also supported countless system improvements to enhance the safety, reliability and affordability of electric service to 85,000 DREMC members.

DREMC employees describe Mr. England as a “kindhearted gentleman who cared for the Duck River family.”

“Anyone who had the opportunity to know Mike England knows what a kind man he was,” said DREMC Board Chairman Anthony Kimbrough. “His calm demeanor, his encouraging spirit, and his appreciation for Duck River employees and its members was unquestioned. The Duck River family will miss our friend.”

DREMC President and CEO James Wright adds that in appreciation of reaching the 20 years of service milestone, the cooperative plans to posthumously honor Mr. England for his commitment to serving others and for his steadfast support of the DREMC mission.

At this time, we ask that you keep his family in your thoughts and prayers.
