13 Mar Jacksons attend annual Young Leaders Conference
Bo and Elizabeth Jackson of Marshall County were sponsored by Duck River Electric Membership Corporation to join more than 300 young people from across the state at the 2019 Young Leaders Conference Feb. 22 and 23 at the Drury Plaza Hotel in Franklin.
The annual conference brings together couples and individuals from rural communities to learn about cooperatives, share their views about agriculture and discuss current issues facing rural Americans. The Tennessee Council of Cooperatives (TCC) cosponsors the annual conference with Tennessee Farm Bureau Federation’s Young Farmers and Ranchers organization. DREMC is a member of TCC, an organization made up of a variety of cooperatives across the state, including electric, dairy, farm supply, telephone and tobacco co-ops as well as farm credit banks.
“The Young Leaders Conference was one of the best conferences we have attended,” said Elizabeth. “I would like to thank Duck River Electric for giving our family the opportunity to attend. We enjoyed sharing the weekend with other cooperative and Young Farmers and Ranchers members from around the state to discuss some common interests and ideas that impact us all. Cooperatives throughout the state truly play a significant role in a farm’s day-to-day operation and impact rural areas throughout the state.”
