Duck River Electric’s PowerUp Prepay gives members an option for traditional monthly due dates and payments to help you stay current on your electric bill.

HOW DOES PREPAY WORK?

DREMC’s PowerUp Prepay is “pay as you go!” You simply purchase electric service before you use it, and you have more flexibility in making payments as you monitor and manage your account through the program.

It works much like operating a vehicle. When the gas tank gets low, you add fuel to keep it running. PowerUp Prepay offers you the flexibility to make electric bill payments when and how you wish (daily, weekly, etc.) as long as you maintain a prepaid, credit balance on your account.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF PREPAY?

Perhaps one of the most immediate benefits for a new DREMC member is eliminating the credit check and reducing the amount of your deposit at the time you apply for electric service. Prepay options can also be used to help members more closely monitor electric use, which helps with making decisions on how to conserve and budget for electricity.

By monitoring energy use with DREMC’s mobile app and adjusting habits and appliance operation, you can help reduce the amount of electricity you use each day and save money. The DREMC mobile app can be used by all our members.

Those who use the DREMC mobile app to access their PowerUP Prepay accounts have the ability at their fingertips to:

HOW DO I KNOW HOW MUCH TO PAY?

PowerUP Prepay is technology-based. Those who opt-in for the prepay option will receive a text or email alert when your balance is low. You can add additional funds to your prepay balance online, over the phone or through the DREMC mobile app.

HOW DO I MAKE A PAYMENT?

DREMC members enrolled in PowerUP Prepay are welcome to use any of the following convenient options to make payments and maintain a credit balance:

BY PHONE
Call your local DREMC office, and use your debit or credit card.

ONLINE
Pay online by clicking the “Pay My Bill” at the bottom of this page.

MOBILE APP
Pay with DREMC’s mobile app using your debit or credit card.

IN PERSON
Pay in person at any DREMC office during regular office hours.

HOW DO I SIGN UP?

Contact your local DREMC office Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. for assistance, or see below to download and complete PowerUP Prepay application.

For New DREMC Members:

New DREMC members choosing the PowerUP Prepay option when applying for electric service are not required to pay traditional deposits, which are based on a credit report, to secure the account. Instead, new members are charged $135, which includes the following:

$10 – DREMC membership fee

$50 – deposit

$25 – meter set charge

$50 – minimum prepayment/credit balance toward electricity

 For Existing DREMC Members:

If your DREMC account has a deposit more than the required $50 deposit for PowerUp Prepay enrollment, the excess deposit amount will first be applied to any past and/or current billing charges. Any remaining deposit balance will then be applied as a credit to your PowerUp Prepay account for future energy purchases. If, after the deposit is applied to all past and current charges the member has any unpaid balance, the unpaid balance may be eligible for debt management, with the understanding that future payments will be distributed with 30% to the unpaid balance and 70% toward future energy purchases.

PLEASE NOTE: If you are applying for new electric service with DREMC, please be sure to also complete the actual service agreement here, and send it to us along with the prepay application and other documents needed to process your request.

STEP 1  Print the DREMC PowerUP Prepay application, or download the form to your desktop and use Adobe Acrobat to complete the application using the fillable form. Click here to access the form.  Be sure to read the agreement carefully.

STEP 2  Bring the completed application to any DREMC office, or scan and email the application to us at corpinfo@dremc.com along with any other required document(s) and/or payment needed to establish the account or payment plan.

WHAT IS "ESTIMATION"?

In the event your meter does not communicate properly, DREMC will use your previous electric use to estimate your bill for the impacted days. On rare occasions, a location and terrain may interfere with remote signals from the meter, making it difficult to transmit daily electric use data. The estimation process is a way of ensuring the prepay program works or members to help them stay current on their balance.
